Cinema 4D.3 'Mock ups'

In todays cinema 4D workshop we had to created these 3D models of beer cans and bottles. It was an introduction to importing files from other programmes and also new textures that we hadn't used before. The top 2 images are of the standard bottle and cans that we created in the workshop that involved shape extrusions and other tools that we had already used in previous workshops.

The bottle was the most difficult to make because of the transparent layer styles which meant each layer had to seamlessly blend into each other and the inside of the bottle had to be filled with another shape and layer style in order to replicate the appearance of the beer inside.

I personally thought that the can was a lot simpler to compose however the positioning go the label layers using alpha channels was a lot harder to get correct against the can.

Above is a design I created in photoshop for an idea I had for a beer that uses the pattern that we made in cinema 4D in a previous workshop that create abstract patterns. I have attached a picture of the JPEG image below that I used for this design. I had put some research into can designs from independent brewers around the UK and found out that current a lot of them use bespoke designs like this on their cans in order to make them stand out. I think the colour scheme for this idea works really well and as a development from the workshop with Jay I sat down and created a new alpha channel as my label is actually a different size the original one that we used. The can is also black chrome. I have never personally liked working in cinema 4D as I am more a digital publication designer and I work a lot with fashion and beauty however I really enjoyed this workshop specifically.
