Each element on the mobile is animated with a different effect weather that be direction, colour or style. My theory behind the idea was based around the heliocentric model of the universe where there is a centre point or planet and everything revolves around it on a circular path. I wanted to shapes to all have to work together in an almost programmed and robotic way.
I don't usually work in after effects in my own practices as I tend to focus more on still graphics but I really think that the colour changing tool and Venetian blind transition would be applicable to use on a film if I decided it would be appropriate to document something during one of the briefs. They fit very well into use on text and motion film that is fluid and fast paced. I have attached a video below of a short film that includes these effects in a style I would consider using myself as an example. The style and dynamic of the text is really appropriate for the content of the film which reflects a well though example of the use of tools in after effects.

My week 1 process & Production (2) was with sara in the motion graphics workshop, our brief suggested we should prepare some shape assets in illustrator that we would later use to animate in after effects.
My initial instinct was to just head towards a square but I though of incorporating the shape into the effect slightly more than just the vector itself having a motion on the screen. As you can see there is a scene that is the thumbnail for the video. This is created within after effects using a 'venitian blinds' transition twice where the visuals cross paths with opposing directions. There isn't actually any vector based objects imported or created within the programme to create this, I like the visual of the screen growing as the lines cross as it gives depth and fluidity to the animation.
Instead of having short visuals that each showed one skill I tried to focus my time on a more controlled and longer animation of one item that shows multiple skills in one. Although this is straying slightly from the brief I believe that this will show my working style off in a more effective way. Below are two still shots of my end rendered movie in which you can see the mobile effect I was trying to achieve, to apply the skills we developed like the colour changing tool which dynamically changes the colour of assets during the animation you can determine the colour and change by adjusting the fill and speed. I also experimented with the fluidity tool on the small blue circle so that it reacted to the rotation around the central point in an almost like jelly like motion it gave a nice effect and with the colour the end product looked like a drop of water.
