Typography Final
I have documented above the initial sketches and the final digital outcome for the workshop with john about organic type.
The logic and inspiration for this design came from an image that used abstract geometric patterns against a grey background. The picture looked very constructed and engineered, each section of the image different from the rest. The unpolished look of each letter is my way of approaching the original brief of exploring organic type construction, I could quite easily refine this idea into a typeface with flawless edges symmetry & strict design principles but that isn't my task.
To a certain degree I think this style of typography is almost old fashioned because it reminds me of an old analogue TV and how it would get the fuzzy abstract screen when the signal was bad but on the other hand the geometry and abstract shapes are quite futuristic and space like.
I decided I wanted to give this 'font' or collection of styled letter a name as it makes the set of work feel a lot more complete. I have chosen 'geometrica abstracta' which is the Latin for geometric abstract the theory behind all our ideas has to come from some where and taking the name back to the source of my idea is a perfect way to describe it.
