Rob: Interactive PDF
This process and production workshop was based around interactive PDF files which involves the use of buttons and audio. The documents need to be 1920 x 1080 and in web mode, we were told to create a layer for each audio, buttons and static work to stop confusion between layers within the document.
When importing media such as video files into indesign you can adjust the thumbnail image that is shown on screen by moving the slider along the timeline and the refreshing the video in the editing sidebar. There are also setting you can add like the image roller button which allows you to add a skin to the video which bring up the play settings when you hover over the still video instead of it just playing when the page is loaded.
Creating buttons was slightly more complex as you have to programme each step like an instruction for example Layer will trigger the video to play at the click of the mouse. We create the buttons in photoshop and saved them as .png files so that the background transparency is correct and there is no background on the image. Also when importing audio files you need to make sure they are in a the correct format such as MP3.
