Rob: Helvetica Publication

Using Photoshop and InDesign we were challenged in groups of 3 to create a presentable publication surrounding the typeface Helvetica. My Group ( Me, Amy Haselden & Ryan Hobson) took a very artistic approach to the task as our visual sources were a3 sheets of deconstructed type from one of our seminars with anna.

I was in charge of the cover ( Top middle) in which I really wanted to draw back the layout and content of it, I find that with a publication like this you do not always need large text and images to subsequently transcribe your idea or opinion. We had to make the document in black and white however I would of done this anyway as I think that using a limited colour palette is a lot more professional and it takes more skill as you are not relying on colour to allow your work to stand out.

My favourite page in the book from a design perspective is the imagine in the bottom right which we and amy decided on,  We wanted to really draw back the inspiration that we used to its core and what is the core of everything? Elements. Using the style of the periodic table and colour inversion I think we created a piece of design that is elegant and modern, looking further into the effect of the work you produce is the beginning of becoming a really good visual communicator.
