Yorkshire sculpture park 24/10/16

During my visit to the YSP I took 100's over photos of the art and exhibits but the above 4 are my favorite and Id like to talk about why I like them and how they are inspirational to me.

The photo in the top left is a view of the underground gallery just below the main building of the park. Architecturally this building is phenomenal because it uses so much of the natural light to help show the exhibits inside, the entire front of the building is made from glass which also lets you look out onto the 'garden' were there are sculptures so in a way its a window into another gallery depending on which way you look through it. I also like the minimalist look of the whole building its very bare but at the same time it feels full of amazing things.

Top right is a photo I took of myself inside an inverted bubble that was on a curved surface of a giant chrome sphere which is pictured in the bottom left. As a sculpture this is an amazing way of being an interactive piece of art that changes from any angle you look at it, I really like the way that it flips you upside down in the indents because it creates a really nice micro image within the same photo also like using exposure. The way the chrome reflects its surroundings is also important because I think it has a similar exposure effect as it shows everything behind and in front of the photographer which is almost like an improvised panorama shot. I would say this is my favorite sculpture in the park because I like things that manipulate normal perspectives.

Finally the Kaws exhibit on the bottom right, I like this as a photograph and as a piece of art. The overall feel of this specific piece is quite child like in posture and aesthetic but I feel like there is a deeper meaning behind the emotionless expression and the fact that crosses are used for the eyes. In a sense its also similar to the voodoo dolls that you see but I think Kaws wanted to let the body language and character it's self speak instead of giving it a facial expression as that is very literal and nothing about this sculpture is literal.
